Interplay Productions announces its first titles to be developed for 3D0" - Battle Chess" & Out of this World
Irvine, Calif. -- Interplay Productions, Inc. has dedicated resources to creating entertainment titles for the 3DOTM Interactive MultiplayerTM, "We're always interested in looking at new technologies on which to develop our products," commented Brian Fargo, President of the Irvine based company. "And those new platforms that allow us to enhance the story lines of our games are of keen interest to us. I think that 3DO is one of those platforms."
Interplay will be taking two of its award winning and most popular titles, Battle ChessTM and Out of this World M and developing them for the 3DO system. "We're not talking about porting the product over," commented Michael Conti, a recognized Hollywood Producer. "Instead of just adapting a current title to a new format, we redesign the program to take advantage of the unique properties of the platform. This allows us to enhance game play and take it to a whole new level," concluded Conti, who is the Producer on the Out of this World project.
Out of this World uses state of the art polygonal graphics, which allows for a fluid use of real-time rotoscoped animation to enhance the story with cinematic zooms, pans, close-ups and image scaling. Play begins as you are transported to an alien world, hurtled through time and space after an accident during a nuclear experiment. You find yourself in a strange world where you need to dodge, outwit and overcome a host of creatures and use your own logic and skill to get you past these deadly obstacles.
Battle Chess brings the classic board game to life combining a magnificent chess logic system with colorful, humorous and dramatic, three-dimensional animated characters. An entire medieval world at war is reflected on the checkered field as you play against the computer or a friend, with 10 levels of play to challenge even the most sophisticated player.
