Overview

Dragon Ball Z - 3DO Tenkaichi Budokai was a lottery allocated event held in two venues on two different dates, 29th March (Tuesday) and 1st April (Friday).

Ticket Allocation

Consumers had to send in a postcard to the 3DO department at the Panasonic in Tokyo by the 28th Feb 1994. The winners were then sent a ticket (valid for 2 people) to their preferred event. 5,000 pairs were given away. The advert appeared in Weekly Shōnen Jump Magazine #11 (With a review in Weekly Shōnen Jump Magazine #15)

The Event

Not much is documented on the event in terms of the game, it is heavily speculated it was an unreleased 3DO game based on the arcade game Dragon Ball Z: V.R.V.S, but called Dragon Ball Z Cell To Kogeki Da. It would of replaced a boxing bag with a controller. (Even though at the event it looked like you had to use a boxing bag still, so still unknown if it was running on 3DO hardware or a different system).

Attendees were given a scratch card as they entered, this had potential prizes of entry into the Dragon Ball Z tournament or a Kodak "Photo Corner" prize (Not sure what this is...but looks like a Kodak disc was given away with images of Dragon Ball Z)

If attendees managed to bag a spot in the tournament, they were awarded a "Certification of Participation", 3 were up for grabs depending on where they ended up in the tournament. The winner got a nice booklet with their card in while 2nd and everyone else just got given a card.

There were 3DO games on show to play as well which is listed in the brochure. (Which unfortunately we have only 3 pages of from at least 14)
